Monday, Oct. 3, the Pittsburgh Pirates (60-99) head back home to finish the 2022 season against the St Louis Cardinals (92-67). First pitch at PNC Park is set for 6:35 p.m.

The Pirates avoided a sweep against the Cardinals on Sunday and even scored six runs against Adam Wainwright. The Pirates beat the Cardinals 7-5 and remain at 99 losses for another day.

Can the Pirates sweep the Cardinals and avoid a 100-loss season? If you are familiar with Betteridge’s law, then you already know the answer.

The game will be aired on AT&T Sportsnet PIT and heard on 93.7 The Fan. The game is also MLB.TV’s free game of the day.

The weather in Pittsburgh on Monday will be mostly cloudy at first pitch. Temperatures are expected to be around 57 degrees and have a slight 4 mph wind from the northeast.

The Pirates will send out Mitch Keller (5-12, 3.92 ERA) for his final start of the ’22 campaign.

Keller has had his best month of the season. In five starts for September, Keller has posted a 1.80 ERA with 26 strikeouts, 13 walks, and 30 innings pitched. The next month that comes close to those numbers was in July, when Keller posted a 2.61 ERA.

Since the Cardinals will be in the postseason starting Friday, they have yet to announce who will start on Monday.

As of right now, there are no betting lines on Monday’s game. When the numbers come in, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Who’s Hot: Despite Ji-Hwan Bae and Oneil Cruz collecting multi-hit games, Jack Suwinski had an under-the-radar performance. Suwinski drew two walks against Adam Wainwright and then drove in what was the Pirates’ game-winning run. Suwinski went one for two with an RBI.

Who’s Not: Rodolfo Castro had a rough day at the plate. Castro went hitless in four at-bats and struck out three times. Castro, Tyler Heineman, and Miguel Andujar went hitless for the Pirates on Sunday.
