Currituck Bulls & BBQ is held annually by the Currituck County Department of Tourism and Tourism. It will return to the Currituck County Rural Center (CCRC) in Powells Point from noon to 6 pm on Saturday, November 6 for a full day of family fun, including rodeos , The Kansas City Barbecue Association approved the competition and people’s choice of tasting opportunities, Manteo Murphy’s live music performances, craft markets, mechanical bull riding, corn cave competitions, local food vendors and more.

The rodeo is an event recognized by the Southern Extreme Bull Riding Association and will invite some of the region’s top bull riders and barrel racers to participate. Rodeo tickets (adults, $15 in advance; children 12 and under, $10 in advance) can be purchased at the Currituck County Welcome Center in Moyock or by calling 252-435-2947 before November 5th. Tickets will also be on sale at CCRC on November 6th (adults, $20 at the door; children 12 and under, $15 at the door).

The Kansas City Barbecue Association (KCBS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of barbecue. It is the world's largest organization of barbecue and barbecue lovers, with more than 20,000 members and more than 500 recognized barbecue competitions worldwide. It is expected that there will be more than 30 barbecue teams from all over the United States participating. The awards are divided into the following categories: chicken, ribs, pork, and sirloin. Tickets for the KCBS People's Choice barbecue tasting will be sold at the event for $10 per person, and the proceeds will be used for Currituck 4-H Backpack for Kids.
