The Chicago Blackhawks made a trade late Friday night that saw a defenseman leave town. Riley Stillman will head to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for forward Jason Dickinson and a 2024 second-round draft pick.

Riley Stillman came to the Blackhawks via an April 2021 trade with the Florida Panthers. In 65 games across parts of two seasons with Chicago, Stillman logged 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) while averaging 15:42 of ice time.

Dickinson, a 27-year-old center, has 74 points (30 goals, 44 assists) in 283 NHL games across parts of seven seasons with the Dallas Stars and Canucks. He posted 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 62 games with Vancouver last season.

Blackhawks' general manager Kyle Davidson previously said he would be willing to weaponize the team's salary cap space if an opportunity presented itself.

That scenario has come to fruition as the Chicago Blackhawks will take on the final two seasons of Jason Dickinson's $2.65 million AAV contract. The Vancouver Canucks sweetened the deal by sending Chicago a second-round draft pick in 2024.
