Meet two members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., who made history in Nordstrom with the luxury hat collection owned by Black.

Co-founders Tajh Crutch and Archie Clay III entered the fashion world in 2016 with their high-end hat collection WEAR BRIMS. Around three basic principles: family, faith, and confidence, alumni of Troy University and Tuskegee University gather to break the curse of generations and ensure the future of their families.

"WEAR BRIMS was inspired by my vision of building a legacy for our family and the future," Archie told BLACK ENTERPRISE.

"When I contacted Tajh, I knew he would be a creative genius to help achieve this goal. So from there we started the journey and established the world's number one hat company, but the goal is owned by a few people because they are not Any large-scale hat company owned by a few people."

Fashion entrepreneurs met for the first time during the new member cluster of Alpha Phi Alpha in the spring of 2011. Their bond as a fraternity continued their ambitions as fashion designers and helped them make history in a large retailer.

In addition to becoming the first luxury hat brand owned by Black to be sold in Nordstrom stores in the United States and online, WEAR BRIMS has also established a partnership with Neiman Marcus. The brand has the real support of Lance Gross, Keri Hilson, Eva Marcille, Chris Paul, and Cedric the Entertainer, etc., which helps to gain popularity in several Nordstrom stores and is listed in Beyonce’s list of black-owned businesses A place.

"For the brand, it feels great and a major achievement, but the most important thing is the individuals who support us," Archie said. "It's great to know that a large retailer like Nordstrom sees the value of our brand-this will only make us want to work harder and continue to push the boundaries of hats and fashion."

WEAR BRIMS has joined the dominance of emerging black fashion designers and stylists who have created what is called "black luxury". Archie and Tajh are proud to participate in this sport and are happy to see where it is going.

“It’s amazing to see you people of color taking action in industries that are not under our control. We at WEAR BRIMS hope to continue to play a role in the development of "black luxury goods". It is important that we continue to empower young children. , Let them know that they can also create luxury goods," Archie said.

"We respect people like Virgil, Jerry, Don, Kerby, Kanye and Samuel Ross-these people have shaped BLACK LUXURY, and Tajh and I are very happy to be one of them."
