Jesse Lingard has been spotted with an American football on holiday - sparking questions about a potential career change.

The attacking midfielder was released by Manchester United this summer at the end of his contract and is now a free agent.

Lingard is currently on holiday after the season ended in late May and was snapped wearing a matching blue shorts and bucket hat combo, holding an American football by the pool.

The 29-year-old is relaxing at the plush Fontainebleau Resort in Miami Beach in the south-east of America - rooms start from around £240 a night and go up to around £2800 a night.

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar is staying at the same hotel, and on Wednesday Lingard posted a snap posing next to the Brazilian on Instagram with the caption: 'Catch up with my bro's #jlingz.'

He also uploaded a snap alongside Neymar's compatriot, football legend Ronaldinho.

Neymar had his arm round partner Bruna Marquezine as the pair enjoyed the Florida resort.

Several other top European stars have been unwinding abroad ahead of the new season, with Mohamed Salah and Jorginho soaking up the sun after gruelling campaigns.

Neymar's PSG team-mate Sergio Ramos, meanwhile, insisted 'summer is also for training' as he posted a sweaty video of himself in the gym.
