Happy Fourth of July from the “Greatest Lions Club.” Lion Warner Phelps held his first meeting as President. He replaced Steve Williams, last year’s president, who did a great job. Lion Steve had a goal of having 330 members and we just made it by ending his term as president with 330 members. A great job by everyone to get new members.

Our meeting began with President Phelps having all former Conroe Noon Lion Past Presidents present lead us in the singing of “God Bless America,” as well as reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge. Former president Wes Carr introduced the guests. We had 10 guests, including former Lion associate Kayla Argueta who is now a member of the Cut and Shoot Lions Club where she was awarded “Lion of the Year.” This week’s door prize was donated by Lion Bill Miller, which was a gift card to Roadhouse, thank you Bill. The Community Partner Spotlight of the Week went to Waypoint Landscaping. Thank you for all your support.

President Warner and his family just returned from Montreal where he and his family attended the Lions Clubs International Convention. Every year the Noon Lions Club sends our club President to the convention. Warner said this was never on his bucket list of things to do, but after this experience he changed his mine. He talked about all the people he met and had pictures of all the Texas clubs in red, white and blue vests, along with Cowboy hats. He met people from all around the world. The proud moment for him was his 14-year-old seeing him holding the flag for the Texas group in the parade. He encouraged everyone to attend next year’s convention in Boston.

This week’s agenda was to give out the year end awards to Lions for taking on various tasks. We handed out a few left-over honors from last week’s banquet, due to supply chain issues even Past President Steve Williams got his award. So many Lions stepped up and received awards. Thanks to all of you on a successful year. Lion Pat Brennan presented our very prestigious awards, the Life Membership Honorariums to six of our Lions. The six Lions honored were Andrew Cantu, Jeff Cashner, Jane Johnston, Karl Johnson, Craig Treadway and Cara Wood. Congratulations you all are great Lions!

Remember, there is no meeting Wednesday, July 6 because of the Fourth of July holiday.

Before I close, I would like to take a minute to talk about the Lion’s Camp in Kerrville, Texas. I was lucky enough to go up to the camp last week and serve dinner to some special families. This Camp is free to all that attend. They have different camps for physically disabled children as well as for kids with diabetes. Wes Carr, fellow Lion and Texas Lion Camp Chairman of the Board took me on a tour of the camp. To describe the camp in one word would be AMAZING, from the scenery to the fishing pond to all the new building going on. Thanks to all the Lions who help make this camp great. Thank You Wes for the tour, and all you have done for the Lions Camp.

If you’re interested in the Conroe Noon Lions Club or the Lions camp please contact us at 936-760-1666. We meet every Wednesday at Noon at the Lone Star Convention Center. Please visit our website, www.conroenoonlions.org, or call the local club office at 936-760-1666; plus we have additional information on other area Lions Club.

Instead of shutting down the program immediately, they let it fade away over the course of a year. A tidal wave of applicants has now rushed to seek billions of additional dollars in last-minute tax breaks.
