At the Prim & Brim pop-up store on Pedigo Way in Bowling Green, owner Kathleen Overton knows all the must haves and so fads of horse derby apparel.

Now, while she says there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to dress in for the Kentucky Derby, pastel is trending as always and men and kids fashion are on the rise.

So, make sure to visit your local boutiques like this to get all dolled up with your part Southern tradition and part spectacle style for the ‘greatest two minutes in sports’.

Also, Governor Andy Beshear and First Lady Britainy Beshear recently showed off the new 2022 Governor’s Derby Celebration Poster getting the Commonwealth even more excited for the big event!

Of course, the most exciting part for many of you who love racing is of course picking your prized horses.

This year, one bowling Green horse, Epicenter, will compete in the Kentucky Derby.

Over at Westwind Farm, President Mike Harris raised Epicenter on their family farm when he had just been born.

“Anybody in the horse business, especially here in Kentucky, the goal is to get your horses in the derby,” said Harris. “My grandfather did it back in the late 60s, I think. This is the first derby since my brothers and I have been out here.”

Harris will be one of many faces cheering in the crowds up in Louisville.

“It’s going to be exciting. I’m looking forward to it. Here in the next week-and-a-half, I’ll be thinking about it a lot more, I’m sure,” he said.
